Letter Sunglasses

   Draw several pairs of sunglasses. Put an uppercase letter on one lens and its matching lowercase letter on the other, such as A–a or H–h.

   Cut each pair apart at the bridge, mix the halves on the table, and ask your child to repair the broken sunglasses.

   Keep an alphabet chart nearby as a reference. Your child can match familiar pairs independently and check the chart when unsure.

   Whenever a pair comes together, name both forms: “This is uppercase A and this is lowercase a. They are both the letter A.”

   Tape the matching halves together and count how many pairs you repaired.

• Begin with only a few letters—the ones your child has already encountered.
