Stuffed animals
- 2
pictures of Bunny’s house, a restaurant, and a bakery
- 3
several ping-pong balls
- 4
a plate
Step 1
Make the First Delivery
Invite your child to be a farmer delivering pretend eggs while you play an animal placing an order. Remind the farmer to hold the plate steadily, then walk alongside them for the first delivery.
What to notice
- Keeps attention on delivering the eggs to the animal that ordered them Cognitive Self-Regulation (Executive Functioning)
- Moves more carefully after hearing a reminder not to drop the eggs Attending and Understanding
Tips
- If an egg rolls off, take a turn carrying the plate and demonstrate how to keep it level.
- When the delivery arrives, answer as the animal: “Thank you for the eggs! I’ll order from you again.”
- If your child stops halfway, move the destination closer so the delivery remains achievable.
Step 2
Deliver More Orders
Once the game is familiar, change the animal, destination, or number of eggs. If the delivery goes to the wrong place, make another pretend phone call and repeat who placed the order and where it belongs.
What to notice
- Adjusts their movements to keep the eggs on the plate Gross Motor
- Turns toward a different animal after hearing that the delivery went to the wrong place Attending and Understanding
Tips
- Balancing the eggs and remembering the destination at the same time can be difficult. Repeat the order calmly and let your child set out again.
- Give each animal a different voice and expression to make the order easier to remember and the story more engaging.
Step 3
A Bigger Egg Delivery
Add more eggs once your child can remember the recipient and destination. If the balls wobble, draw attention back to the plate so they can adjust their steps and deliver the full order.
What to notice
- Delivers egg orders to different animals Cognitive Self-Regulation (Executive Functioning)
- Shows tension or concern when the eggs wobble on the plate Emotional Functioning
Tips
- Vary the route with a cushion “hill” to step over or a blanket “river” to cross.
- If six eggs are too difficult, make several smaller trips or use a larger tray.
